West Coast Early Music Festival promotes for the very first time in Portugal an international competition dedicated to the harpsichord. After eleven editions of the festival and four editions of an early music competition dedicated to young students, MAAC, the entity responsible for the festival with the support from Município de Oeiras starts an internacional competition in Oeiras, the city that host the festival since 2008, in the year that we celebrate the 350 anniversary of François Couperin birthdate.
The 1st International Harpsichord Competition Count of Oeiras will take place at Marquês de Pombal Palace in Oeiras historical center, from 6 to 7 July 2018. The jury will be constituted by Elisabeth Joyé, Giulia Nuti and Frédérick Haas.
The competition is intended to be biennial and aims to stimulate the new generations of harpsichordists from Portugal and elsewhere. The competition is open to applicants of any nationality who complete 30 years of age until the date of 1 October of each edition year.
